This week, following the Broccolin Project, we have moved a second time to the municipality of Totana, a municipality of Murcia where there is extensive broccoli farming, alongside other horticultural crops such as lettuce and artichoke.
At Broccoli Passion we work to help Mums and Dads to create a healthy diet for their children. We know that sometimes it is difficult to get kids to eat vegetables, especially green vegetables, they frequently reject them. Therefore we have created a competition entitled:
We want you to share with us those stories that you invent to get your children to eat broccoli. For this we will award the funniest, most creative stories with a getaway for 2 with a rural flavour.
Today we visited a school in the Valencian Community for the first time; in this case it was the Ausias March school in Picaña, a municipality located in La Huerta, west of Valencia. The Broccolin Project has passed through the four classes in primary 3 and primary 4.
We have visited the students in the First Cycle of CEIP Ricardo Campillo to present the Broccolin Project. Through our Broccolin mascot, we have made one of the healthiest vegetables you can find in our supermarkets known among the youngest and thus encouraging healthy eating habits.
In late 2013 we created the Broccolin Project, with the slogan “we are what we eat.” This is an activity that seeks to educate children about the importance of a healthy diet, because our goal is to promote healthy eating and increase the consumption of vegetables among the younger members of the family, pregnant women and the entire family in general.
The Project Broccolin bases in realizing activities with children to make aware them of the importance of a good feeding. For it we begin realizing chats in diverse schools of Murcia and Valencia. Using to the pet Broccolin like protagonist, we realize different activities adapted to children from 5 to 8 years, like account stories, drawing and painting …
After several months of work, the story finally comes into the light: The Adventures of Broccolin, a story aimed at younger members of the family.
The theme of this story focuses on a school in the vegetable world, where we can find to pupils as Meloncito, Tomatin, Broccolin, or even a little cabbage. In a way entertaining and fun children will figure out what are the features of the broccoli, through Brocolin, and how, thanks to them, all the chopped vegetables become friends and become the best class of the entire college. This story is headed to the small of the house so that they understand the importance of healthy eating, including in your diet all kinds of fruits and vegetables.
Broccoli plays an important role in beauty. Using words that transport us to a famous advertising campaign, we can say that broccoli “cares for us on the inside and it shows on the outside”. This phrase doesn’t contain an empty promise, but perfectly sums up the message from Broccoli Passion that we want to share with anyone who is interested in looking after themselves.
The imagination of children is wonderful and their ability to associate ideas is no less interesting. When they see broccoli on the plate, some kids just have fun with the idea that they are eating delicious little trees. Others, however, reject all green vegetables both actively and passively, which is a real headache for parents.
But one thing that is clear: its attractive shape makes broccoli one of the first vegetables that children recognize and remember.
Broccoli, known for its richness in essential components of the human diet, such as vitamins, antioxidants and minerals. Among the benefits of its consumption are: caring for your heart, the prevention of some kinds of cancer and cataracts, the strengthening of bones, fighting osteoporosis and rheumatoid arthritis, it protects against ulcers, its ideal for strengthening the immune system and helps fight and prevent birth defects. Some studies describe it as “the most nutritious vegetable per unit of weight of any food product”.
